Select Tony Robbins Quotes

Tony Robbins (Anthony Robbins) is, at this point, perhaps a legend in the field of personal development. Tony made a name for himself by creating results where others had failed to do so, and developed a huge following as a result. He also developed a reputation for being a bit full of himself.

"We aren't in an information age, we are in an entertainment age." -Tony Robbins

Below are some select quotes from Tony, but first, I'd like to make a few comments. I'll start with a comment on the man himself, and then I'll comment on the quote above.

Tony Robbins is one of the greatest success stories of the past 30 Years. I had great personal success with his Personal Power II audio series. As a result of that program, I increased my standard of living and my level of happiness many times over. I highly recommend this program for anyone who is willing to do what it takes to change their life.

Tony's success and enthusiasm is totally infectious, and his methods can and do work. With great success, comes great responsibility, and a great number of detractors. Many have said that he's basically all hype, and others have called him a scam artist.

The quote above perhaps sums up in one quote, one of the major complaints that Tony's critics have about him. He can be very entertaining. But that's just the point. He keeps you engaged, and that is vital if you're going to commit to a program of change. As I went through Personal Power II, I found myself wanting to start the next day's session right away so that I could hear what Tony had to say.

Tony Robbins, like many publicly successful people, are either loved or hated by those who know of them. I have no idea what you thought of Tony Robbins before reading this page. You might have even thought he was a fraud or a scam artist. I can only say that his techniques worked for me, and I believe they can work for you.

Either way, this success guru certainly has interesting things to say. So, detractors or not, fraud or not, let's have a look at some select quotes by Tony Robbins.

Tony Robbins Quotes on Taking Action

Tony pulls no punches about the subject. Take action or else! While some self development programs focus on changing your attitude, Tony's focus is on taking persistent and consistent action while you change your attitude. He reminds you of that all the time.

"You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action."

"The path to success is to take massive, determined action."

"You see, it's never the environment; it's never the events of our lives, but the meaning we attach to the events - how we interpret them - that shapes who we are today and who we'll become tomorrow."

"What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are."

"We can change our lives. We can do, have, and be exactly what we wish."

"We will act consistently with our view of who we truly are, whether that view is accurate or not."

"A real decision is measured by the fact that you've taken a new action. If there's no action, you haven't truly decided."

"It not knowing what to do, it's doing what you know."

Belief, Limitations, and Behavior

Your beliefs determine, to a large extent, the limitations you impose on yourself. Change your beliefs, and you'll change what you can and cannot do.

"Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives."

"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten."

Tony Robbins on Inspiration, Contribution, and the Meaning of Life

Inspiration feeds off of contribution. When you get inspired, and then you contribute, you set in motion an endless cycle of inspiration-contribution-inspiration that only you can stop.

"In life you need either inspiration or desperation."

"It is not what we get. But who we become, what we contribute... that gives meaning to our lives."

"It's not the events of our lives that shape us, but our beliefs as to what those events mean."

"Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more."

"Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life's deepest joy: true fulfillment."

Energy

"The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body. The more efficient your body, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to produce outstanding results."

Tony Robbins on Taking Control

"The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you're in control of your life. If you don't, life controls you."

"You can't always control the wind, but you can control your sails."

"Take control of your consistent emotions and begin to consciously and deliberately reshape your daily experience of life."

Challenges

"Surmounting difficulty is the crucible that forms character."

Tony Robbins on the Definition of Luck

"The meeting of preparation with opportunity generates the offspring we call luck."

Behavior Modification

Tony's methods of behavior modification work well to help you change all areas of your life. They work best, in my opinion, for those who think visually.

"The truth is that we can learn to condition our minds, bodies, and emotions to link pain or pleasure to whatever we choose. By changing what we link pain and pleasure to, we will instantly change our behaviors."

Diet

"Want to learn to eat a lot? Here it is: Eat a little. That way, you will be around long enough to eat a lot."

Subjective Reality

"We are the only beings on the planet who lead such rich internal lives that it's not the events that matter most to us, but rather, it's how we interpret those events that will determine how we think about ourselves and how we will act in the future."

Tony Robbins Quote on Taking Responsibility

Tony tells us that responsibility is the "ability to respond." Taking responsibility in all situations puts you in the drivers seat. Many people, when confronted with difficulty, tend to fall into a victim mindset. It's as though they are trapped and cannot do anything to change their situation. Taking responsibility gives you power over yourself and your situation.

"Whatever happens, take responsibility."
