Inspirational Quotes in Action
Inspirational quotes are often tossed about like a box of tissues. Rarely do we encounter someone who has taken an inspirational quotation and really taken action on it.
It's a shame that it seems that the only ones who seem to really be living in the spirit of those quotes are the ones who come up with them in the first place. In his book, The Power of Intention, Dr. Wayne Dyer reminds us that to be inspired is to be in-Spirited.
From what I can tell, inspirational quotes are emailed almost as often as jokes and electronic birthday cards. Electronic birthday cards are remembered for a time, and jokes are laughed at and told over and over again. How often do you find, however, someone actually using an inspirational quote to inspire themselves or someone else?
For the most part, we rarely remember them after we read them, and we certainly don't use them very well, if at all. If you are the type who hears or reads an inspirational quotation and truly feels its meaning, then you are also the type who should be using it to inspire both yourself and others.
Go ahead... inspire yourself, your family, your friends, or even a stranger. The best way to do that is find quotes that move you and memorize them. A
short inspirational quote
works well for this. Short quotes are easy to remember and usually have "punch" to them.
Then, do a little research on the author or the circumstances surrounding the quote. Each quotation has a unique voice and a message, or perhaps it could have more than one message depending upon circumstances. You need to find out how that voice and that message correspond to what moved you, and then put that quote to work whenever you feel you need inspiration.
You can also use it to inspire others as well. I use quotes all the time to get people around me to wake up, and see different viewpoints. Doing this also reinforces my own feelings about the subject, the quote, and its purpose.
You can do the same...
First, of course, you have to adopt the quote for yourself. In some way, the quote speaks to you.
Second, you then have to determine what the quote means to you. In other words, why does the quote speak to you?
Third, do a little research on where the quote came from, and why the author might have come up with it. Fourth, mentally bond the inspirational quote and its reason for being to your reasons for adopting the quote.
Then, use it in practice whenever you get the chance. Whenever the circumstances are right, pull out your quote and use it.
If you are insane like me, you'll even find quotes that apply to specific people or groups of people. This can be the case even if the quote doesn't really seem apply to your situation. In those cases, you'll have to adopt the quote anyway and find out how things fit together, even if it doesn't apply directly to you.
Then, share your inspirational quotes with others, even if they don't get it. You'll feel better that you did.
