Inspiration Poster... The Modern Mandala?
An inspiration poster is perhaps a new take on an old idea... a very old idea. Using visual images to inspire and motivate is a valid method of raising spirits, and achieving dreams.
People have been inspired by art ever since, well, art. Ancient cultures used mandalas to inspire and heal people. Mandalas are pictures of specific printed patterns that are to be stared at for periods of time.
Mandalas heal, in theory, by elevating the viewer to higher states of consciousness. Presumably, there is a state of consciousness where disease does not exist, and staring at a mandala for periods of time can take you there.
If you've ever been inspired by a painting or a picture, you've experienced a similar effect. There are measurable changes in your physiology that take place when you view something that inspires you.
You can use an inspiration poster to inspire a mood, certain thoughts, or even to remind yourself of a goal or a dream that you have yet to fulfill. You can use this in a similar way to which you would use an inspirational saying or quote.
It can be a poster of any kind that inspires you. For example... if you'd like to feel calm and serene, and a beach scene does that for you, then place a poster with a beach scene where you have easy access to it.
If you'd like to live on a lake in the mountains, then find a poster with a scene that depicts that, and place it in a place where you will see it every day. When you see it, remind yourself that you will live there one day very soon.
If you need to feel confident, then find an inspiration poster that makes you feel that way when you view it, and place it where you can access it at those times when you need to feel most confident.
Don't limit yourself. Your inspiration poster can be something different from what we would traditionally call a poster. It could be, for example, a picture, or a book cover, or an album cover.
I rip out pages of real estate magazines that have homes or pictures of land in a place where I'd like to live and use that for inspiration. Virtually any visual image that has a positive effect on you can serve as an inspiration poster. It also could be a movie poster. Some of them are quite dramatic and tell a story which can help to get emotions flowing.
Take a picture of the car you want, the house you want to live in, the restaurants you want to eat in. Take pictures of the kind of life you want to live. Then, convert those into your inspiration posters.
Anything goes here as long as it is positive and visual. If you can add sound to it, like the sounds of a stream or the ocean, or inspiring music, then do it. The more senses you involve, the better. For best results, set up your inspiration poster and take time to view it every day.
