Anthony Robbins is a Master Motivator

World's #1 Personal Improvement System :
"Personal Power II - 30th Anniversary Edition"

Anthony Robbins is a master motivator and a peak performance coach for individuals, professional athletes, and Fortune 500 companies. Through his seminars, audio and video learning series, and books, Tony Robbins has shared his own personal story of success with the world. The sheer power of his convictions have served as inspiration and motivation for thousands.

Tony is famous for getting results with "quick turnarounds." Tony's ability to help people quickly turn around any area of their lives is quite remarkable. Because of this, I've heard him sometimes referred to as the original life coach.

I'm not so sure that is completely accurate and many life coaches would probably disagree. The founder of the life coaching field is Thomas Leonard, the founder of the ICF (International Coaching Federation). And as far as I know, Tony Robbins has never called himself a life coach.

What might be true, however, is that Anthony Robbins may have been the first to use what is now commonly called life coaching as a complete approach to personal change. I don't know for sure.

What I do know is that the Anthony Robbins system is one that covers every area of your life, and he packaged it up, and let you take it home. He brought together a number of different systems and techniques that people could use to change anything they wanted about their lives.

While motivational speakers and personal development gurus had been around for many years, Tony took motivation to a much higher, more personal level. At the same time, he also brought the concept to the masses.

What used to be reserved for corporations, high powered executives, and the rich, Tony brought to you, the general public. By tailoring a system that could work for all, yet was individualized to fit each person's circumstances, we were introduced to the concept of a personal life coach, without really even knowing what it was.

The best part? He put it in an audio series that you could use at home to become your very own coach, with Tony doing the steering.

With the help of ex-football star Fran Tarkenton, a series of infomercials selling his audio series has been saturating American television for years, and has made Anthony Robbins a household name.

Those who didn't know him before may have learned who he was when he appeared in the 2001 comedy, Shallow Hal, starring Jack Black. Tony plays himself, and his ability to transform the thinking of Jack Black's character forms the premise of the movie.

Tony's techniques are largely based on his early training in NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming.

What's NLP? It has differing definitions depending upon who you talk to, but the end result of NLP is to reprogram your brain so that you can change your life. From p. 84 of his book Unlimited Power, Tony describes how NLP differs from traditional therapy...

"...by mastering a simple understanding of how your brain works, you can become your own therapist, your own personal consultant."

"You go beyond therapy, being able to change any feeling, emotion, or behavior for yourself in a matter of moments."

Here are some select quotes from Anthony Robbins...

A master of turnaround, here is one of my favorite inspirational quotes..

"The past does not equal the future."

Meaning, among other things, that if you failed yesterday, that does not mean that you have to fail again today.

One of Anthony Robbins' key points is that passion is vital to success...

"Passion is the genesis of genius."

Have you ever noticed how the mind of a teenager operates? Ask them to clean up their room, and see what happens. Often, nothing. Ask them what they need to do in order to get to the 7th level of some Nintendo game, and watch what happens.

All of a sudden, all this creativity and excitement comes pouring out of them. It often sounds like the most complicated series of steps ever dreamed of, but they know it by heart.

Why? Because they are inspired by the goal. They have passion driving them. Misplaced passion? Perhaps.

Here's what Anthony Robbins says about goals and inspiration...

"People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals - that is, goals that do not inspire them."

Do his techniques work?

In a word, yes! Tony used many of his techniques on himself, to raise himself up from a down period in his life to a multimillionaire. About ten years ago, I used his techniques to get myself out of a dead end job (but it's not about the money, it's about the freedom to do what you really want!).

In his book, Unlimited Power, Anthony Robbins describes how he imagined his ideal life, and then lived it. On page 214, he tells us...

"I got everything I programmed into my mind." The official Anthony Robbins biography shows that he truly has made some incredible accomplishments.

By following his coaching advice, I had a similar experience. I got a new car every few years, a beautiful house with a swimming pool, and great new job offers, raises, and promotions. Most importantly, life became easier, I was happier, and I stopped complaining... something I was doing way too much. As Tony says... "It worked for me, and it can work for you."

Like any famous, successful person, Tony certainly has his detractors. At one point, he was more known for his firewalking programs (where people supposedly overcome fears by walking on hot coals) than for the actual substance of his program.

I can only say that as I reflect on the results that I and those around me experienced, his methods work. In a word, they are phenomenal.

Anthony Robbins promises big things, though. In a business where his promises are supposed to become someone else's reality, that's a tough sell. In reality, his system forces you to promise big things to yourself. I can tell you from my experiences that if it doesn't work, you are not doing it right.

His detractors have asked... is Tony Robbins a fraud? One word of caution about this, though. Tony is careful to use multiple techniques and several modalities in order to produce change. My strong belief, however, is that his most effective techniques are those that require you to be a visual thinker.

His most powerful methods are most successful if you are good at visualizing. If you are not, then you may have to work a little harder in order to get good results. But, if you are looking to make sweeping changes that lead to what Tony calls "massive action," then Anthony Robbins and his techniques are for you.
